Acne is a dermatological problem that may affect the skin of all ages. Though there are lots of medicines and ointments available in the market for curing acne but a lot better cure and prevention is at hands with coconut oil. Coconut oil being natural in source, causes little harm to your skin.Though dermatologists are divided on the opinion about coconut oil’s curable nature of acne but certain facts point otherwise.

1. Contains lauric acid and capric acid

Coconut oil contains lauric acid and capric acid are excellent anti-microbial agents. They are also present in mother`s milk, which protects a baby from infection. When coconut oil is applied on skin, these acids are converted to monolaurin and monocaprin, respectively. They in fact replace the acid layer of the skin which helps prevent microbial infection and thereby acne.

2. Rich in Vitamin E

Vitamin E helps proper functioning of sebum glands, clearing blockage and makes your skin healthier.

3. Rich in MCT (medium chain triglyceride) and MCFA (medium chain fatty acids)

Coconut oil is rich in MCT and MCFA, which are easily absorbed by the skin and help to unblock the pores and grime for a healthy looking skin and protects it from further infection.

4. Helps healing wounds faster

Coconut oil helps in healing wounds faster and blemishes caused by acne also. The hormonal imbalance and its effect on skin is also neutralized by coconut oil. The coconut oil to be used should be refined one, but it`s always better to use virgin coconut oil. But before starting to use coconut oil you must check if you are allergic to coconut oil or not. Before applying coconut oil, make sure to cleanse your face from oil and grime for better results.

As coconut oil is antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial in nature, it might cause liberation of toxins with the initial use. This may result in a couple of acne to occur but sticking to the treatment procedure will do only good to the skin. Coconut oil also makes your skin glow and changes your complexion and skin texture. Overnight use of coconut oil on your skin makes it soft and beautifully radiant.

Coconut in your diet can also do a lot of good to your skin. Coconut oil helps in proper metabolism, digestion, relieves stress, maintains blood pressure and a lot more good which is reflected in your overall health. Coconut oil also keeps your scalp moist and helps fight dandruff leaving your hair soft, shiny and lively.

Results might vary due to certain other conditions like food habit, life style, sanitation but coconut oil is definitely a much better and environment friendly cure for acne. It is worth giving a try.
