5 Simple ways to soothe facial redness

Facial redness

Some parts of our skin are often exposed and have to undergo various abuses due to different kinds of harsh weather. Various natural elements cause different affects on the skin. The sun’s scorching heat can cause a lot of redness due to sunburns, heat rash or open capillaries near the surface of the skin. Some of you may be able to overcome the mild redness by using some simple handy tips. But for those who are finding it extremely difficult to handle the situation, here are five easy ways to reduce redness. Read on to find out how.

1. Aspirin mask

Aspirin pills can be bought for inexpensive price. Aspirin is excellent for treating different kinds of redness. It is very easy to make the mask. All you have to do is to crush a few uncoated and plain aspirin and powder them. Take the powder in a bowl and mix some plain water into it to form a thick paste. Apply the paste on the affected areas and leave it for about 20 minutes. This is a cool way to bring some relief to the discomforts caused by rashes and sunburns.

2. Oatmeal bath

If you suffer from redness frequently, it is better to refrain from using hot water. Another ingredient you can use from home is oatmeal. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and emollient properties. One of the best ways to bring some relief is to sit in a cool oatmeal bath for some time. You will be able to get rid of the rashes quickly. If you have redness on your face, make a mask out of oatmeal and milk. Mix milk and oatmeal and apply the mixture on the areas. The lactic acid present in the milk is a gentle exfoliator. It reduces the redness, moisturizes and removes the damaged skin cells.

3. Chamomile tea

Medicinal herbs are beneficial for treating redness. Chamomile is one such plant that can be used for soothing the problems due its healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Take a few chamomile tea bags and dip them in cool water. Leave them for sometime. They can be used as compress for soothing the area. Chamomile has an active ingredient called anodyne that is responsible for healing. A cup of chamomile tea may also be beneficial.

4. Lanolin and calamine lotion

If you are feeling itchy and irritated, use the calamine lotion that has cooling properties. It can get rid of the itchiness and redness. Lanolin acts as a protective barrier and is an emollient too.

5. Eye drops

If all the above methods are not effective on your eyes, try using a good redness reducing medicated drops. Always have it handy because you may never know when you need to use it. It is beneficial for reducing the redness on your face too. So it can be used as a fast and effective treatment on various occasions.

The best way to prevent redness is by staying out of the sun. If you have to remain outside for long, wear a sunscreen lotion to protect your skin. If you have any swelling due to redness, use ice for soothing. Eat less spicy foods as well. Follow these simple tips and take care of your precious skin in this summer.
