What is the difference between cosmetic cases and vanity cases?

I need high quality cosmetic cases to gift my cousin on her birthday.I have heard from many people about cosmetic cases and vanity cases.I don't know both terms are use for same thing or different thing.Does anybody know any difference between cosmetic cases and vanity cases?
