Do Ecko shoes work great as running shoes for young lads?

My 11 years old son wants a pair of skate shoes for his school, however, his school doesn’t allow school shoes, and my son doesn’t want to wear canvas shoes to school, as it hurts his ankles when he runs over uneven road! While doing some searching, I came across Ecko shoes, and found them quite sturdy and durable! I would like to know from you people, if these shoes are great as running shoes for young kids as my son! I shall be thankful to you for some suitable advice!
