How to work the pastel eyeshadow

Pastels for your eyes and face are all the rage right now. This is how you work the look.

Keep your complexion sheer

Unless you want to look too retro, keep your complexion sheer and glowing. Choose either a BB or CC Cream instead of a foundation. If you feel you need some extra coverage, just spot blend concealer really well, so that the skin doesn’t look heavily made-up. Your skin should look fresh and feminine.

Stick with one eyeshadow shade

Forget blending different eye shadow colours when it comes to pastels. Go for a one shade only and use that as a wash over the lid. It is such a beautiful look using too many shades will kill the softness.

If you want a stronger bolder look, you can choose a graphic eyeliner in a pastel shade and wear it against a neutral eye. Apply it in a bold manner and wing it out. After that, layer mascara so you don’t look washed out around the eyes.

Note: Impeccably groomed and defined brows are a must when it comes to pastels. Pastels are a fresh, girlie look, so it’s nice to add a touch of tomboy with the brow that will make you look like the runway models even. Keep it structured, but not too heavy so that it does not over shadow the feminity.

Keep cheeks sheer and pretty

For your cheeks, a pinkish tone works for lighter complexions, while a fresh coral-orange is superb on darker skin.

Avoid powder to have a look that is fresh and where you can still see the skin coming through. A light stain or tint on the apples of the cheeks will give a fresh shine and glow. Don’t try to outline, or apply too heavily.

Experiment with lip colours

Pastels can often have a matte finish so take some time with different textures and add a gloss over your lipstick. You can have a lovely stain of colour, and sheer gloss on the top, or simply use gloss alone.

Try it on your nails

If you’re a bit shy to wear it on your eyes or face,  you can still have the look on your nails. There is a neon mixed with white kind of pastel going on opaque pastels ,a different form of pastel that is poppy.
