Jacques Guerlain in 1921 created a fragrance for women which he christened Shalimar. It actually has quite an interesting anecdote behind its creation. Elisabeth Barille in her words recounts the incident. According to her, one day while examining a sample of vanillin, Jacques all of a sudden poured the entire contents into a Jicky bottle in hand which resulted in the birth of ‘Shalimar’.
